Featured + bags

Today I am featured on Eyelet Sage Studio's blog. It is an little interview. You can read it here.

Last week I decided to participate in the Young Masters at Auction 2009 (ongekend.nu) This is an auction for new/young artists. The work will be exhibited for four days in several places in Amsterdam and on the last day the visitors can buy the work by offering the highest bid. You can see me here

things I have been doing

What a week. I have a lot of projects going on in my creative space. I have won the fabric of the week contest and I am still very excited. I ordered the five yards of fabric and I hope it will be here this/next week. I ordered two new patterns =)
I have also made a few new things for the shop. Some brooches, bags and I am working on some pouches/clutches. (I have to make some good photo's of the new bags) I am planning to participate in a crafty markt in September so I am also making a few cute packages.

My sister got a new mobile phone so I made her a branch new phone case. See the picture.

I will add the new items this week.

Making

I forgot to mention that my best friend let me made this awesome pie! She used my dandelion design and an illustration I once made of her. I think it is a very original gift for my graduation =) and the pie tastes very good!! it is almost finished :p


Today I've been very busy sewing and etching. I bought an etch pen last week and I tried it on a jar. It is very funny to do.

I also made two new bags from my dandelion fabrics. I think they look very feminine and cute =). The bottom is made of sky leather. I will drop them in the shop soon. The brooches are included.

Tonfisk

If I ever win the lottery or when I am starting to make big money, the first thing I am going to buy is this Tonfisk tea set. I realy love the design of Tonfisk. The combination off wood and ceramic.



I am working on another bag with my dandelion fabric. I am going to add some other products soon at the shop. I have some other journals and brooches.
I made some flyers for the exhibition and now I am going to make some other business cards.

Big bag Branch

My bag is finished and here is a photo! This week I am going to make better pictures of the bag for the website. Big bag Branch is a very useful bag. It has two little side pockets. One pocket outside with a zipper and a big pocket inside with a keyring so you never loose your keys in this big bag. It has two wooden handels and a strap. You can loose the strap. The bag is made with my own designed cotton fabric and sky. The interior of the bag is lined with light weight black cotton fabric.

At the moment I am working on the organize tree and some special file folders.
I am thinking of re-designing my website. Not the layout but make it more functional. Unfortunately I don't have time to do it before my exam. So that will be the first project after I am graduated

Shopping bag Branch New

This is a shopping bag made with my own branch fabric. It has also a small round chalkboard were you can put on your messages. So you don't forget what you need and it is also good for the environment because you don't have to use paper.

I also made some brooches with a chalkboard. So you can put an everyday message on it. Maybe your mood of the day. I hope these will be available in the Branch New shop.

Mini tutorial

Yesterday I made a small shopping bag. It was very easy so I thought I would share it with you.

You will need:
paper (for pattern)
scissors
fabric (40x60,5cm)
bias tape (I used black)
pins
sewing wire
sewing machine







Start to draw the pattern on the paper and cut it out. (see first photo)
fold the fabric so you have two layers.
Pin the pattern on the fabric and cut this out.

Now you have two parts for the bag. (It looks like an undershirt).
Turn it inside out and pin this together. (see second photo)

Now sew the bottom with the machine as shown by number 1
After that draw a line (see 2) at the bottom corners. I did 4cm from the corner and the hook 8cm (an angle of 90 degrees).
Sew the two corners (see 2). Cut the corners after the sewing line.

Sew the handles together as shown by 3.
as finishing, sew the bias tape along all sides. The inside and to the upper part along the handles.
I sewed some extra bias tape on the handle parts for extra firmness.

And you are ready to go with your shopping bag!

Branch Naturals

Last week I've been working on some new things for my line. Next monday I have to show what I have until now (at school) for this project so I wanted to make some new things.
I started with this mug holder. I wanted the wood round the mug but that was not possible because the wood was to soft so I made two versions. One with my Branch Naturals logo and one with a green stripe.

Yesterday I made an other book. A few weeks ago I found this beautiful wooden onderleggers. I made a book of it with felt.
It turned out pretty nice. It is beginning to look like something but I still have to make a lot.
I hope the branch naturals shop is online in june!

This is the orange bag I made. It has a hidden bag at the front with a zipper.



After I stamped on fabric with my handmade stamp I made this brooch.



In illustrator I made some patterns and printed it on some recycled paper and bound this little cute notebooks.



Not the best picture :s but this is the bag I made with my own stamped fabric.
